HAWAII NEWS NOW (KGMB/KHNL)
Air Date: October 1, 2019

Join Ross as he guides host Jobeth Devera through haunted Pioneer Square.

HI Now host Jobeth Devera is on another Travel Tuesday adventure in Seattle, WA with Alaska Airlines, and this time she’s putting her best and bravest self forward and going ghost hunting with paranormal investigator Ross Allison from Spooked in Seattle.

Since 2004, Spooked in Seattle tours, in association with AGHOST (Advanced Ghost Hunters of Seattle Tacoma), the oldest and longest running ghost tour in the area, has been telling the real stories of haunted Seattle and presenting evidence collected on actual paranormal investigations.

The journey starts with a stroll through Pioneer Square, the birthplace of Seattle. Pioneer Square is a richly historic place known for its Romanesque Revival architecture. The first stop is J& M Café, previously known as J & M Saloon. it was established in 1889 and occupies a three-story brick building that was built after the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. Here is where Jobeth and Allison go underground, to the original Seattle city.

Allison explains on June 6, 1889, a fire started out of a carpentry shop and burned through 33 city blocks in 12 hours, including the entire central business district of Seattle. Businesses quickly rebuilt using brick buildings that sat 20 feet above the original street level.

Over the years, Allison researched and collected evidence to eventually launch Spooked in Seattle. He says, “I wanted to share the true stories of what happens in haunted Seattle.”

The next stop of the tour is at Merchant Café. Allison says it’s known to be Seattle’s oldest restaurant and most notorious haunted location. Merchant’s Cafe was opened in 1890 and has been explored by paranormal investigators who’ve been intrigued by frightening tales from employees and others.

The last stop of the tour brings Jobeth and Allison back to Spooked in Seattle headquarters. Here is where they adventure through the death museum… in complete darkness. Allison says he has collected real artifacts from the 1800’s including mourning dresses, coffins and death beds and are all displayed at the Death Museum.
